Hamilton, Marker, Mahone Lead Gator Men At Home Invite

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Brennan Hamilton was the top place-finisher for the Allegheny men's outdoor track and field team, taking second place at the fourth annual Gator Invitational at Frank  B. Fuhrer Field. He finished behind Allegheny graduate Tom Lee, who won in 33:56.66.

Andrew Mahone and Chris Marker added fourth-place finishes in the 800- and 5,000-meter runs, respectively, for the Gators.

Mahone ran a time of 1:54.35 in the 800 and was followed by teammate Ben Eyer, who took seventh in 1:55.57.

Marker clocked in at 15:02.23 in the 5K. Fellow Gator Ryan Sullivan placed sixth in 15:10.32.

Seven facility records were broken at the meet. Allegheny '03 graduate Jeremy Scott impressed the most, clearing 18 feet, 8.25 inches (5.70 meters) for his win in the pole vault.

Also in the field, Baldwin-Wallace's Kevin Phipps recorded a new hammer throw record, firing the apparatus 185-4 1/2 (56.50m). Josh Woods of Capital stretched to a new long jump record at 23-2 1/2 (7.07m).

On the track, Fuhrer Field records were recorded by Buffalo State's Xavier Mateen, unattached runner Mark Lattimer and Thiel's Alex Eaton. Mateen set a new 100 mark (:10.89), Lattimer won the 200 (:21.25) and Eaton claimed first in the 400 (:47.13).

The Wheeling Jesuit 4x100 squad also set a track record (:41.48). It consisted of Travis McKinley, Brandon McKinley, Tyler Glover and Mike Little.
