Butler Repeats As All-American; Symoniak 10th in 10K

BEREA, Ohio -- For the second straight year, Lauren Butler earned All-America honors in the women's javelin at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She placed eighth while teammate Mia Symoniak finished 10th in the women's 10,000-meter run.

Butler had a distance of 134 feet, 4 inches (40.95 meters). Amanda Trieloff of Carroll won the national championship with a throw of 150-4 (45.82m) while St. Thomas's Kyley Crotty took second (150-0, 45.72) and Occidental's Kelly Young was third (146-11, 44.78m).

In the 10K, Symoniak crossed the finish line in 37:47.74, besting her performance at last year's Nationals by six spots. Chicago's Liz Lawton won the race (34:41.59) and was followed by Alicia Freese of Pomona-Pitzer (35:23.79) and Simone Childs-Walker of Carleton (35:51.46), who took second and third, respectively.
