DELAWARE, Ohio -- Allegheny's
Lauren Butler and
Kelly Gallagher were individual champions on day one of the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan. Butler won the women's shot put with a toss of 40 feet, one-half inch (12.20 meters) while Gallagher claimed the 10,000-meter run title in 39:40.42.
Another Gator, Emily Dunn, followed Gallagher in the 10K, placing eighth with a time of 42:10.13.
Emily Norton placed fifth in the long jump, stretching 15-7 (4.75m).
The Allegheny women also had several strong preliminary performances.
Beth Muller earned the No. 2 seed in the 200 (:26.61) and the third seed in the 400 (:59.60).
Rebecca Lendyak qualified for the fifth seed in both the 100 (:12.86) and 200 (:27.03).
Also, Samantha Zink (2:19.66) and
Angie Dyer (2:24.92) are slotted fourth and ninth, respectively, in the 800.
After Friday, the Gators are in third place with 29 points. They trail leader Ohio Wesleyan (78.83) and Denison (40). The meet will wrap up on Saturday.
