BEREA, Ohio -- Allegheny women's track and field athlete
Lauren Butler earned second place in the javelin and sixth in the shot put at the Baldwin-Wallace Sparky Adams Invitational on Saturday.
Butler's distance in the javelin was above the provisional cut. She fired the spear 129 feet, 7 inches (39.50 meters) and finished behind only Waynesburg's Elisha James (137-6, 41.92m). In the shot put, Butler had a length of 39-10 3/4 (12.16m).
Also in the field for Allegheny,
Holly Wilson stretched to fourth place in the triple jump (32-10 1/2, 10.02m) while Hannah Smith took sixth (31- 9 1/4, 9.68m).
On the track,
Kelly Gallagher ran to third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:37.71. In the 3,000 steeplechase, Lynn Simonton (12:50.39) and
Amanda Horth (13:24.84) were fifth and eighth, respectively.
Katie Stancik was seventh in the 1,500 (4:53.15), followed by Samantha Zink in eighth (4:54.98).
Beth Muller and
Rebecca Lendyak earned solid finishes in the 400. Muller was fourth (:58.53) and Lendyak crossed sixth (:59.73).
