Senior Rebecca Wasser Qualified For the 100m & 200m in the Commonwealth Championships

2010 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Season Recap

The Crusaders placed last in the first contest of the outdoor season at Lebanon Valley College with highlighted performance by Sophomore Kate Wimberg (Galloway, NJ./ Sacred Heart) who earned her team six points as she won first in the discus throw with a toss of 30.27 and four points with a second place finish in the shot put, thanks to a throw of 9.40 meters. The Crusaders then competed in the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener where Wimberg managed to qualify for the MAC Outdoor Championship by posting a distance of 87 feet in the hammer throw. 

The team continued their season at the West Chester Invitational in the beginning of April where again Wimberg led her team with spectacular performances; she finished 8th in the discus throw and 12th in the shot put. Winding down the season, the Crusaders participated in the Millersville Metric in York, Pa. 

Competing in the Commonwealth Championships, Wimberg, Junior, Alexandra Stengel (Avondale, Pa. /Avon Grove) and Senior Rebecca Wasser (Reading, Pa./ Muhlenberg) delivered spectacular performances. Wasser competed in the 100m, 200m and finished 11th in the long jump. Wimberg managed 16th place finish in the shot put and an 11th place finish in the discus throw. Stengel also competed in the shot put and discus throw, while finishing 16th in the hammer throw with a toss of 26.77. The Commonwealth Championships conclude the regular season for the outdoor track and field teams. 

The team graduates two seniors, Rachel Spohn (Sinking Spring, Pa. / Wilson) and Rebecca Wasser. Look for a promising performance by the returning Crusaders in next year's season.
