COMPLETE MEET RESULTS
Chester, Pa. (Sat. May 8, 2010) – Alvernia competed at the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the past three days hosted by Widener University at the Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium. The Crusaders' performances were highlighted by
Brennon Ferrizzi (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) who won the 400m with a time of 50.14 and
Brian Nerney (Middletown, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) who finished second in the high jump with a leap of 1.98 meters.
The Crusader Men's 4x100m relay team finished just out of the finals with at time of 45.82, while the 4x400m relay team placed eighth with a run of 3:36.48. Ferrizzi also just missed the finals in the 200m with a preliminary run of 23.02. Alvernia men finished 9th of 11 teams.
On the women's side, Rebacca Wasser (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) competed in the 100m, 200m and finished 11th in the long jump.
Katie Wimberg (Galloway, NJ/Sacred Heart) managed a 16th place finish in the shot put and an 11th place finish in the discus throw.
Alexandra Stengel (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) also competed in the shot put and discus throw, while finishing 16th in the hammer throw with a toss of 26.77.
The Commonwealth Championships conclude the regular season for the outdoor track and field teams. Both Ferrizzi and Nearny will head to Springfield, MA this Thursday and Friday to compete in the ECAC Champiosnhips. Ferrizzi will take on the 400m, while Nerney will look to better his best in the high jump.
