2/7-PA impressive at Varsity Classic @ NY Armory

PA teams were at the NYC Armory on Monday 2/7 for the 168th St. Varsity Classic, and they utilized the fastest track in the world. Springfield Montco?\'s Faye Korich had an impressive double, taking second in the 800m in 2:18.5 and third in the Mile in 5:26.0. Conestoga\'?s DMR competed in the Championship DMR where they finished 14th in 12:58.3. Perkiomen Valley\'?s 4x800 was among the leaders finishing 5th in 9:50.8. PV\'?s Ashley Pultorak was up there in the 400m, going 1:00.5. Three PA boys managed to make the semifinals: Perkiomen Valley?\'s Mike Muche and Brian Hurst, and Penncrest?\'s Andrew McCloskey all ran an impressive 6.5. Muche was the only one to move onto the finals, finishing sixth. McCloskey went on to tie for 6th in the 200m in a PA#5 22.6 and Glen Mills? Wendell Simpkins tied for 7th in 22.8. Muche was not far back from the leaders, going 23.3. Julian Edwards of Bishop McDevitt posted a PA#4 400m, finishing second in 50.8. Alphonso Willis of Glen Mills finished 7th in 51.4. Springfield Montco\'?s Matlack Gillin was an impressive 2nd in the Mile, going 4:34.2. Glen Mills easily out jumped their competition, with Simpkins taking second in Long Jump with a PA#1 leap of 22?-5? and teammate Herbert Jackson sixth in 20-?2 ½?. Jackson was also third in Triple Jump, with an impressive 44?-0? jump. Tim Ohm of Penncrest took second in Pole Vault clearing 13-?6?. Springfield Montco took second in the 4x800m with a PA#3 8:10.3, with Glen Mills finishing fourth in 8:11.8. Glen Mills posted a PA#3 4x400 in 3:29.3, finishing fourth, and Springfield Montco was up there, finishing seventh in 3:34.4.
