LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shippensburg's Dave Osanitsch '96 was named the 2010 PSAC Men's and Women's Head Track and Field Coach of the Year on Tuesday afternoon by conference officials after voting was conducted by the league's coaches. Osanitsch guided both programs to conference championships and completed the season with five individual All-Americans.

Osanitsch has now won eight PSAC Coach of the Year awards through five seasons at the helm of the Raider track and field programs. The 2010 campaign was just the third in program history that the men and the women won a conference championship in the same season and the first since 1993 (The Raiders also achieved the feat in 1984). Eleven school records were broken during the outdoor season (nine women's, two men's), including the men's mark in the decathlon (Donnie Graybill) and the women's mark in the pole vault (Megan Breski).

In women's competition, Osanitsch was a central overseer of the Lady Raider program that became the first in the history of the PSAC to achieve a Triple Crown; winning the cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field championships in the same calendar year.

The feat was culminated with the SU women achieving their first PSAC outdoor title since 1998 by scoring a meet record 212.5 points on the basis of points in 20 of the 22 contested events. The Lady Raiders won four PSAC championships and had multiple scoring performances in 14 events.

Osanitsch was also instrumental in Shippensburg achieving its best performance in school history from the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, as the Lady Raiders finished ninth and had four female athletes achieve All-American status. Never before had four SU women earned All-American status from individual event competition at a national meet.

On the national stage, Shippensburg finished the 2009-10 campaign as the fourth-best overall women's program in Division II per the USTFCCCA. SU only trailed two traditional powerhouses (Grand Valley State and Adams State) and a Seattle Pacific squad that boasted 12-time national champion Jessica Pixler. This designation is based on an institution's finish at the NCAA Division II Championships in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field seasons).

In men's competition, Shippensburg defended its PSAC title with a wire-to-wire victory for the second consecutive season, defeating heavily-favored East Stroudsburg and Lock Haven to win its 18th outdoor championship in school history.

The Red Raiders won four events at the PSAC meet, including the pole vault and the 1,500 meters on the final day. Overall, Shippensburg had at least one scoring performance in 16 of the 21 events and had multiple placewinners in 12 events. SU had eight placewinners in just three jumping events, including four in the long jump.

At the Division II national championships, junior Josh Hostetler earned his second straight All-American certificate in the javelin throw. Overall, the last three seasons of outdoor competition have yielded 14 All-Americans for Shippensburg University.

On the national stage, Shippensburg finished the 2009-10 campaign as the 13th-best overall men's program in Division II per the USTFCCCA. As with the women's program, the men's program was also the highest-ranked program from the PSAC on the national level.
