Jones finishes sixth at nationals in javelin

Junior standout wins second D III All-American award in event

BEREA, Ohio (May 27) – Junior Elisha Jones made school history on Thursday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

 

Jones became the first Yellow Jacket to earn two Division III All-American awards after placing sixth in the javelin. The third-year standout placed second in her flight and sixth overall with a throw of 43.61 meters (143' 1”). She placed seventh as a freshman when she became the school's first outdoor track & field All-American.

 

The Yellow Jackets nearly went two-for-two in the All-American category in the javelin on Thursday as sophomore Marybeth Rocco placed ninth overall and fourth in her flight. Rocco's best throw traveled 40.18 meters (131' 10”).

The Jackets will look for their second All-American award on Saturday, May 29, when sophomore Krystal Baker competes in the triple jump.
