The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently identified Allegheny College for its academic prowess by including both the men's and women's squads on its All-Academic Teams for the 2009-10 campaign. The Gators were one of 66 schools nationwide to earn the distinction for both programs.

"It is a pleasure to be able to work with the young men and women here at Allegheny College as our teams are a perfect representation of the Allegheny mission,” said head coach Brent Wilkerson. “Not only are the students on our teams fully engaged in the rigors of academics, but they are striving to be involved in something bigger than themselves. Their recent acknowledgement of being All-Academic further proves that we have a winning formula for balance here at Allegheny. I am constantly impressed by our student-athletes and they deserve all of the recognition they work so hard for."

Allegheny received the scholar accolades as a result of a cumulative grade point average higher than 3.1.
