SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University softball team will join thousands of other walkers at the Canfield Fairgrounds in Youngstown, Ohio October 17 to participate in a charity event to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.

Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes is a nationwide event sponsored by the ADA to raise funds to support research, fund programs and deliver information about diabetes.

“We are very excited to be taking part in this event this year,” said Rock head coach Vashion Johnson. “We have set a goal to raise $1,000 and have set up an online site through the ADA where people can donate up until the event.”

Fans can support the cause by donating to The Rock's total by visiting the link at the top of this page. Donations made online are completely secure and are tax deductable.

For those that do not wish to donate online, checks can be sent to coach Johnson at the address below. Please make checks payable to the American Diabetes Association.

On top of the online and mail-in donations, The Rock softball team will host the ADA Fall Softball Tournament September 25.
