Brandon Fusco
VOORHEES, N.J. – The honors keep coming for Slippery Rock University senior football center Brandon Fusco. This time, though, he shares some of the spotlight with a teammate.

Fusco received his fourth Preseason All-America honor of the season Thursday when he was named as a first-team selection by D2PRODAY.COM.

Rock kicking specialist #C.J. Bahr#, meanwhile, received his first Preseason A-A honor when D2PRODAY.COM named him as the third-team kicker.

"Brandon and C.J. are truly deserving of these national honors," Rock head coach George Mihalik said. "They have clearly established themselves as two of the top NCAA Division II football players in the nation. We are extremely proud of them and their efforts, both on and off the field, and are glad they are part of the Green and White."

Fusco, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound native of Cranberry Township and a Seneca Valley High School graduate, previously earned Preseason All-America honors from the Consensus Draft Services, The Sporting News and D2Football.com.

A fourth-year starter at center, Fusco is coming off a 2009 season in which he earned a second-team postseason All-America honor from Don Hansen's Football Gazette and finished third in Super Region One balloting for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award. He also earned first-team all-region honors from both the Football Gazette and Daktronics, Inc., was named for the second consecutive season as a first-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division performer and earned The Rock's Offensive MVP award.

Fusco is one of four Rock starting offensive linemen returning from last year's team.

C.J. Bahr
Bahr, a native of Boalsburg and graduate of State College High School, also earned a first-team All-PSAC-West honor last fall as well as being named as a third-team all-region performer by the Football Gazette. He was also one of the finalists for the inaugural Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award presented to the NCAA Division II or Division III kicker who excels on the football field and in the community.

The son of former Penn State and NFL kicker Chris Bahr, C.J. enters his final collegiate season ranked second on SRU's career extra points list with 112, third in career field goals with 25 and seventh in career scoring with 187 points. He has been The Rock's leading scorer in each of the past two seasons.

Fusco and Bahr will lead The Rock into their season-opening game next Thursday, Sept. 2, against Merrimack (Mass.) College. Kickoff on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
