SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team and head coach
Noreen Herlihy would like to thank all the sponsors and participants that helped make the inaugural SRU Women's Soccer Golf Outing last Friday a great success.
The inaugural outing was held at the Spring Valley Golf Club in Mercer and drew a total of 67 golfers. Participants were treated to 18 holes of golf, prizes and a steak dinner.
“We had a great turnout, especially with this being the first year we have done this,” said Herlihy. “We really need to thank Dobil Laboratories for their title sponsorship and Mary Ann King for all her help. We also want to thank all of the other sponsors, volunteers and participants for making this such a success.”
The outing was won by current player
Alyssa Barrett and her parents, Betsy and Jon, of West Henrietta, N.Y.
Friday's outing was sandwiched between The Rock's first two games of the year, a 2-0 win on the road at West Virginia Wesleyan Thursday and a 2-0 win at Seton Hill Sunday.
Slippery Rock opens its home slate and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play Wednesday when Millersville travels to Thompson Stadium for a 2 p.m. contest.
