WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 11) – The Waynesburg University men's cross country team finished in eighth place out of the 10 teams running at the annual Waynesburg University Invitational.

The Jacket men were led by junior Kam Schaefer, who placed a team-best 30th overall with a time of 28:39.4. Senior Bill Moder followed closely behind in 33rd place after crossing the finish line in 29:09.8. Freshman Jonathan Blatt rounded out Waynesburg's top three finishers with a time of 29:26.8.

Nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon rolled to the team title and took six of the top 10 individual spots. The Tartans' Dan Addis took the top overall individual spot after completing the 8K race in 25:50.1. He barely beat out his teammate and second-place finisher Nate Bussiere, who finished in 25:50.3. Third-place honors went to Washington & Jefferson's Scott Ryan, who crossed the finish line in 25:57.3.

Grove City finished in second in the team standings and Geneva placed third.

Waynesburg dedicated the event to the memory of Steven Rood, the father of women's cross country runner Sarah Beth Rood, who passed away this summer of heart disease. The Yellow Jackets gathered donations that will be sent to the American Heart Association and donned white bandanas in memory of the elder Rood.

The Yellow Jacket men return to competition in two weeks when they head to Coopers Lake to take part in the Carnegie Mellon Mideast Pre-Regional.
