EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – After suffering its first loss of the season on a heartbreaking penalty kick against Bloomsburg Friday, the ninth-ranked Slippery Rock University men's soccer team rebounded by shutting out previously undefeated No. 17 East Stroudsburg, 2-0, Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Rock (5-1-1, 3-1-0 PSAC) got both of its goals from first-time goal scorers and a shutout from goalkeeper
Greg Blum after the Warriors (5-1-0, 1-1-0 PSAC) finished the game with advantages of 16-8 in total shots and 7-5 in shots on goal.
David Moore scored his first career goal in the 50th minute to break open a scoreless tie.
Tynan Smith was credited with an assist on the play.
SRU added an insurance tally in the 84th minute when
Zach Hall scored his first collegiate goal off a corner kick.
Kenneth Fultz was credited with his team-leading third assist on the play.
Blum earned the shutout win after recording six saves. His counterpart, ESU's Troy Hernandez allowed two goals and made three saves in the loss.
Although the Warriors finished with the advantage in shots, The Rock posted a 9-3 edge in corner kick attempts.
Hall was the only SRU player to register more than one shot, finishing with two shots.

Drew Donoghue, Fultz and Moore each had one shot on target.
Shastri Spencer finished with four shots to lead ESU, while Marc DeFeo and Drew Repsher each added two shots on target.
Slippery Rock will face its second consecutive back-to-back PSAC games Friday (Sept. 24) and Saturday (Sept. 25) when California (Pa.) and Shippensburg travel visit the SRU campus. Both games are set for 4 p.m. and will follow the women's soccer team's matches against the same opponents.
