CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Neely Spence and senior Mary Dell finished 1-2 in the 4K Dickinson Short Invitational on Saturday morning from Carlisle High School as the Lady Raiders won the short race and finished second in the 6K race.

Spence finished 42 seconds ahead of Dell with a 4K time of 13:27. Her time was faster than 146 runners from the 4K men's race held later in the day and marked the 12th collegiate meet that she has won through 16 total races. That stretch includes individual titles in eight of her last 10 collegiate races, with the only two non-victories during the run being the 2008 and 2009 NCAA National Championships.

Dell's second-place time of 14:09 marks a new 4K cross country PR by 17 seconds. Fellow senior Abby Huber was the No. 3 runner for Shippensburg and cemented the team's 4K victory with a sixth-place time of 14:35. Not to be lost in the shuffle, junior Sarah Strayer (9th; 14:49) and senior Emily Dubs (10th; 14:50) both had solid races and set collegiate cross country PRs for the 4K.

In the 6K race, senior Jamie McCollum continued to impress and finished 10th with a time of 23:34 as SU's No. 1 runner. Freshman Patty Reis was also impressive, earning 11th place in 23:58. Three other freshmen, Emma Shank (13th; 24:08), Julia Megaro (21st, 24:22) and Megan Rhyner (26th, 24:35), rounded out the Top 5.

Shippensburg will have another crucial meet in two weeks at the Division II Pre-Nationals in Louisville, KY. The race will be run on the same course as the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championships in December.
