CARLISLE, Pa. – The No. 11-ranked Shippensburg University men's cross country team had a solid 4K competition with PSAC rival Lock Haven on Saturday from the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational held at Carlisle High School and also achieved several solid 8K performances.

Shippensburg placed five runners among the Top 9 finishers of the men's 4K race and six in the Top 11. Senior Bryan Beegle paced the Raider harriers with a third-place time of 12:10. Sophomore Matt Gillette was two seconds behind in fifth place, while redshirt senior Josh Neyhart and junior Stephen Schelander both notched times of 12:14.

Just three seconds behind that duo was redshirt junior Brandon Boyer, who earned ninth place with a time of 12:17. Senior Jake Sitler, despite being the No. 6 runner for Shippensburg in the race, finished 11th overall in 12:27.

Lock Haven was credited with the win for the 4K race as only the top three finishers counted towards the final team scores. Nick Hilton won the race in 11:59 while teammate Tim Getz was one second behind and Nathan Zondlo took eighth place in 12:17.

In the 8K race, senior Dustin Adams continued his impressive start to the season as Shippensburg's No. 1 runner. Adams finished 14th overall with a time of 27:08 in his first collegiate 8K race. Fellow senior Matt Gelety is also having a solid beginning in 2010 and was SU's No. 2 runner (16th, 27:14).

Juniors Wade Miller (23rd, 27:29), Greg Ahlswede (24th, 27:29) and Jeremiah Wilt rounded out Shippensburg's Top 5 in the 8K race. Head coach Steve Spence divided Saturday's field between the runners who had already competed in the Alumni race two weeks ago and those who had yet to make their 2010 racing debut.

Shippensburg will have another crucial meet in two weeks at the Division II Pre-Nationals in Louisville, KY. The race will be run on the same course as the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championships in December.
