LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University junior outside hitter
Kaylee Smith was named Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division Volleyball Athlete of the Week for her performance in four matches last week.
The Rock posted a 3-1 record in four PSAC crossover matches, defeating Millersville, East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg and falling to Lock Haven.
Smith led the team with 46 kills, 34 digs, four aces, two assists and a hitting percentage of .295.
In a win over Millersville, Smith posted a season-high 20 kills and gathered 10 digs while hitting .447 for the match. She followed that performance with 14 kills against East Stroudsburg and 11 kills and 15 digs against Shippensburg.
For the season, Smith leads the everyday players with 98 kills (2.97 per set) and a hitting percentage of .198, while ranking second in digs with 113.
After playing its first 12 matches of the season at tournaments and on the road, Slippery Rock will open its home schedule this weekend with a 7 p.m. match against Indiana (Pa.) Friday and a 2 p.m. match with California (Pa.) Saturday.
