SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – California's Russell Bootwright scored a header in the fifth minute of the second overtime as the Vulcans upset the 13th-ranked Slippery Rock University men's soccer team, 1-0, Friday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at Egli Field.

Gaby Deller-Borgono sent a long crossing pass from the right side of the field to the left side of the box where Bootwright headed the ball across the goal mouth and into the upper right corner of the net in the 105th minute.

The Vulcans (4-1-1, 1-1-1 PSAC) finished each period with an advantage in total shots and edged The Rock (5-2-1, 3-2-0 PSAC) 14-7 in total shots and 7-2 in shots on goal in the game. SRU finished with a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Greg Blum was credited with the loss in goal after allowing one goal and recording six saves. Derek Yobbi earned the win after posting two saves.

Anthony Paganie and Steve Hamilton each had one shot on target for SRU.

The Rock will get little rest before facing Shippensburg in another PSAC match tomorrow at Egli Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
