SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Kenneth Fultz scored a hat trick to lead the 13th-ranked Slippery Rock University men's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Shippensburg Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at Egli Field.

Fultz finished with three goals on seven total shots to lead SRU. Toby Bowser added a goal on four shots and Anthony Paganie handed out two assists. Jeremy Feehan and Mitchell Walters were each credited with one assist and Greg Blum registered seven saves to earn the win in goal.

Shippensburg was led by Miles Harriger with one goal, while Clay Sale recorded four saves in the losing effort in goal.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 6-2-1 overall and remains atop the PSAC standings with a 4-2-0 mark. The Raiders drop to 3-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play.

Looking to rebound from a tough 1-0 loss in double overtime yesterday against California (Pa.), The Rock came out of the gates firing.

Fultz put SRU on the scoreboard in the fourth minute when he found the lower right corner of the net through traffic off a double assist from Paganie and Feehan. Paganie placed a long throw into the box, where Feehan headed the ball to Fultz's foot for the score.

Fultz added his second tally of the game in the 21st minute when he took a through ball from Walters in the middle of the field and beat Sale into the upper left corner of the net to put SRU up 2-0.

After the halftime break, Bowser increased the lead to 3-0 with a free kick from 35 yards out that was misplayed by Sale and snuck over the goal line.

Fultz finished off his hat trick and put The Rock up 4-0 in the 60th minute when he played a throw-in from Paganie and scored into the lower right corner of the net.

Shippensburg's lone tally from Harriger came in the 62nd minute when he headed a long pass from Dave Rostad into the upper left corner of the net.

Slippery Rock finished the game with a 17-16 advantage in total shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Both teams registered eight shots on goal.

The Rock remains home for its third consecutive home game next Saturday, Oct. 2, when Seton Hill travels to Egli Field for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup.
