Satterfield ranks among national statistical leaders

Rock redshirt sophomore running Akeem Satterfield is ranked second in rushing and third in scoring on the latest NCAA Division II national football statistical report

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Slippery Rock University redshirt sophomore running back Akeem Satterfield is ranked second in rushing and third in scoring on the NCAA Division II national football statistical report released Monday, Sept. 27.

The Erie native and Cathedral Prep High School graduate averaged 162.6 rushing yards and 14.0 points per game in his first three games this fall. He trailed only Franklyn Quiteh of Bloomsburg (168.0 ypg) among the rushing leaders and Minnesota-Duluth's Isaac Odom (18.0 ppg) and Tyler Schulte of Augustana, S.D. (15.5 ppg) in the scoring race.

Satterfield also ranked 11th nationally in all-purpose yardage with a 167.33 yards per game average.

Senior placekicker #C.J. Bahr# was tied for 31st nationally in field goals per game with a 1.0 average, junior wide receiver Devin Goda was tied for 33rd in pass receptions per game at 6.0 and 48th in receiving yards per game at 83.5, junior linebacker Zach Sheridan was tied for 40th in total tackles per game at 9.25 and freshman punter James McCombie ranked 47th with a 38.7 yards per punt average.

As a team, The Rock ranked 23rd in net punting with a 36.3 yards per punt average and was 37th in both rushing offense at 180.0 yards per game and punt returns at 13.6 yards per return.

The Rock (3-1 overall, 0-1 PSAC-W) seeks to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it travels to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Clarion (0-4, 0-1 PSAC-W) for a 2 p.m. game Saturday.

SRU then returns home to prepare for an Oct. 9 invasion by Edinboro (4-0, 1-0 PSAC-West). The Fighting Scots were ranked 12th in the American Football Coaches Association's Sept. 27 Division II national poll and 16th in the D2Football.com national poll.
