EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team was unable to snap its losing streak on Saturday as the The Rock fell 3-1 (17-25, 25-15, 18-25, 22-25) to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division foe Edinboro.
Slippery Rock (6-10, 4-4 PSAC-West) and Edinboro (13-3, 6-1 PSAC-West) split the first two sets, but the Fighting Scots managed wins in the third and fourth sets to get their eighth win in their last nine matches.
Junior outside hitter Kaylee Smith led Slippery Rock with a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs. Smith also recorded one service ace and one block.
Junior outside hitter Kristin Slavoski was second on the team with eight kills while also adding one block.
Both senior setters, Anna Bixler and Kim Wilson, had 16 assists while junior outside hitter Alee Kromer produced a match-high 19 digs in addition to her one service ace.
Gina Boothe paced Edinboro with 17 kills.
Slippery Rock will host teams from the PSAC-East next weekend with matches on Friday against Cheyney (2:30 p.m.) and West Chester (5 p.m.) followed by a match on Saturday vs. Kutztown at 3:30 p.m.
