The highlight of the game for SRU came between the posts, as Blum recorded a season-high 16 saves to keep the team in the game.

Michael Kickel earned the win for Gannon, recording four saves.

Wednesday's loss could have crucial implications in terms of the conference standings with SRU dropping into a three-way tie for the second position in the standings. East Stroudsburg, which has only one game remaining, holds the lead with 15 points. SRU, Gannon and Shippensburg all have 12 points, but Gannon has two games in hand on The Rock. Also lurking is unbeaten No. 4 Mercyhurst, which has eight points and five games still to play, and Millersville, which has nine points and four games to play.

The Rock will look to rebound with a non-conference match this Saturday when Wheeling Jesuit travels to Thompson Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.

SRU's final two conference games of the season will be a home showdown with No. 4 Mercyhurst Oct. 27 and a road game at Lock Haven Oct. 30.
