Junior wide receiver Devin Goda had six catches for 43 yards for The Rock.

The only Rock points came on a 33-yard field goal by senior #C.J. Bahr# midway through the second period.

The Rock shot itself in the foot on the opening kickoff as senior Jermale Cromerdie was stripped of the football and the Vulcans' Brandon Echols recovered it at the SRU 25-yard line.

Four plays later, the Vulcans converted the turnover into the game's first touchdown for a 7-0 lead with 12:57 left in the first quarter. Portis connected with Terrance Moore for a 14-yard TD to cap the drive.

The Vulcans extended the lead to 14-0 with a four-play, 76-yard scoring drive on their next possession, climaxed by a 48-yard TD pass from Portis to Derrick Jones with 6:24 left in the first period.

The Rock generated its first offensive drive of the game and scored its only points with 9:51 left in the second period when Bahr booted a 33-yard field goal to cap a 13-play, 71-yard drive.

Those proved to be the final points of the opening half.

Notes:

For the second straight week, The Rock had a long punt return wiped out by a penalty. Doiley, who had a return for a TD negated the previous week vs. Edinboro, saw a 40-yard return to the California 40 erased by an illegal block infraction in the second quarter Saturday …Cal has now won five straight games against SRU and seven of the last eight meetings after The Rock won 13 straight from 1990-2002.
