CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Chris Marker picked up weekly honors from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) after a stand-out performance at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday. Finishing second overall out of 284 runners, Marker's fleet feet powered Allegheny to its second team title of the fall slate.
The nationally-ranked No. 3 Gators finished first out of 31 teams in the regional showcase that also doubled back as a mini NCAC preview. Although Allegheny failed to manufacture its best effort, the team still delivered a dominating performance after defeating runner-up Elizabethtown by 63 points. Marker paced the strong team showing. Despite being outkicked for medalist honors coming out of the final turn, the reigning All-American from Arlington, Va., still managed to set a course record with a final clip of 24:47. With two weeks until the 2010 conference race, Marker's excellent finish served as an excellent sign for a team heading into the postseason with lofty expectations.
