KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Shippensburg University men's cross country team dominated the Division II Challenge held Saturday morning at Kutztown, placing five consecutive runners from second through sixth place to win the meet with an impressive total of 20 points.
Sophomore
Matt Gillette led the Raider pack in 25:37 and had been SU's No. 2 runner in his two previous races this season. Senior
Sean Stetler had a strong race and was five seconds behind in 25:42.
It was the second straight meet in which an SU competitor thrived in a hometown competition. This week, senior
Josh Neyhart crossed the finish line in 25:44 for a fourth-place finish. Junior
Stephen Schelander# matched Neyhart's time for a fifth-place finish.
Junior
Brandon Boyer finished sixth in 25:51, marking another strong performance. Senior
Jake Sitler took ninth place in 25:57. Senior
Ethan Rissell placed 14th in 26:25 and junior
Eric Evans was another Top 20 finisher, earning 18th place in 26:47.
In two weeks, SU will compete at the 2010 PSAC Championships, hosted by California (Pa.).
