INDIANA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost its second match of the weekend on Saturday as Indiana (Pa.) successfully defended its home court with a 3-0 (17-25, 15-25, 22-25) win over Slippery Rock.

The Rock (8-17, 5-10 PSAC) was led by junior outside hitter Kaylee Smith who recorded a team-high 10 kills, 11 digs and two assisted blocks. Sophomore opposite Sarah Cadwallader and junior outside hitter Kristin Slavoski added six and four kills respectively for SRU.

Senior setters Anna Bixler and Kim Wilson split the setting duties with Wilson registering 14 assists to Bixler's 10. Wilson has now had at least 10 assists in all but three matches this season for The Rock.

Defensively, junior middle hitter Lisa Bakaitis had four total blocks (1 solo and three assisted) while junior outside hitter Alee Kromer posted 21 digs. Smith, sophomore middle blocker Hayley Wilson and freshman outside hitter Lauren Rojek all chipped in two assisted blocks in the defeat.

Slippery Rock jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the first set before Indiana (Pa.) (19-7, 9-6 PSAC) stormed back to take a 14-13 lead that the Crimson Hawks would not relinquish for the remainder of the set.

After never leading in IUP's 25-15 win in the second set, The Rock fell behind 17-10 to start the third set before mounting a comeback that saw Slippery Rock go on an 11-5 run to pull to within just one point at 22-21. However, the Crimson Hawks managed to regroup and hold on for a 25-22 win to take the set and the match.

The Rock and the Crimson Hawks finish the regular season 1-1 against each other with both schools winning matches on their home floors.

Slippery Rock will begin a three-match homestand at 7 p.m. next Friday (Oct. 29) against Edinboro. The Rock will be looking to even the season-series with the Fighting Scots after losing 3-1 at Edinboro earlier this year.
