White paces Rock at Gannon-Mercyhurst Invite

Brittany White paced The Rock women's cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the Gannon-Mercyhurst Invite Saturday in Erie.

ERIE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's cross country team placed seventh at the Gannon-Mercyhurst Invite Saturday in Erie.

The Rock, competing without the majority of its top runners, finished with a team score of 214 points. Wayne State won the meet with 23 points, followed by Seton Hill (88), Clarion (89), Gannon (106), Alderson-Broaddus (108). Mercyhurst (139), SRU (214), West Liberty (229) and Davis & Elkins (242).

Slippery Rock's top finisher was Brittany White, who covered the 6,000-meter course in 25:58 to finish in 25th place.

Kayla Slivinski was the second Rock finisher, coming home in 51st place with a time of 27:41. She was followed by Emily Gusew in 53rd at 28:08.

Jenny Senko placed 57th in 28:09 and Mara Polnar finished 59th in 28:16 to round out the scorers.

Kelsey Fox finished 60th in 28:18, followed by Mystina Shields in 65th at 28:43, rounding out the top-seven finishers.

The Rock will rest next weekend before returning to action at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships Nov. 6 at California (Pa.).
