SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's soccer playoffs will include defending champion Slippery Rock University, as The Rock has clinched the No. 4 seed for the upcoming playoffs.
Slippery Rock needed a Mercyhurst win over Gannon Sunday afternoon and the Lakers delivered with a game-winning goal in the final minute to defeat Gannon 1-0.
That Mercyhurst win gives the Lakers and The Rock each 15 points in the conference standings, but SRU will advance to the playoffs on the strength of its 4-3 win over Mercyhurst last week.
SRU will travel to No. 1 seed Shippensburg for the semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 3. Kickoff has been set for 6 p.m. The Rock defeated the Raiders 4-1 in the regular season meeting between the two teams, but Shippensburg has reeled off 10 straight wins since suffering that loss at SRU.
The other semifinal game will feature No. 3 Millersville at No. 2 East Stroudsburg Wednesday. Kickoff for that match is also set for 6 p.m.
