KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Slippery Rock University men's soccer standout Tom Pool was named Thursday to his second consecutive Daktronics All-America team. The Daktronics All-America team is voted on by Division II sports information directors at institutions that sponsor men's soccer.

Pool, who only played in 13 games this season due to an injury, was named to the Honorable Mention at defender. In order to be named to the Honorable Mention, a student-athlete must receive votes from at least one-third of all voters.

A senior from Bedfordshire, England, Pool has now earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from Daktronics in each of the last two seasons. The Rock's 2010 team captain is also a two-time first team Daktronics All-Region performer, a two-time first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference performer and was named to first team All-Region and third team All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last season.

This season, Pool appeared in just 13 games and made 11 starts for Slippery Rock, which spent much of the year in the national rankings and finished the season ranked third in the Atlantic Region. He handed out one assist on the offensive side of the ball, but his best contribution came as the team's center back. In games that Pool started on defense, The Rock allowed just eight goals, including a penalty kick, and never allowed more than one goal in a game.

Pool finishes his career with three goals and three assists for nine points.

Pool is also one of the top candidates in the region for NSCAA All-Region and All-America honors. The NSCAA All-Region team is scheduled to be announced next week, with the All-America selections coming the following week.
