KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Slippery Rock University men's soccer senior trio of Greg Blum, Tom Pool and Mitch Walters were all named as repeat All-Region selections when the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Performance Subaru recently announced its All-Atlantic Region squad.

The NSCAA All-Region squad is voted on by the region's head coaches. All first team selections advance to the national ballot for All-America voting.

Blum and Pool are repeat first team All-Region selections, while Walters earns a repeat third team honor.

For the second consecutive season, the region's head coaches selected Blum as the top goalkeeper in the region. The Ambridge, Pa. native, who earned All-America honors last season and is now a three-time All-Region selection, started in 18 games for The Rock in 2010. He played nearly 1695 minutes and allowed 22 goals for a 1.17 goals against average and made 89 saves for a .802 save percentage.

Blum's numbers are a bit skewed by injuries that happened to the back four, including an injury to All-American center back Pool. In games that Pool played on defense, SRU allowed just nine goals, with one of those coming on a penalty kick, and never allowed more than one goal in a single game.

For his career, Blum posted four consecutive winning records in goal and appeared in 76 games with 72 starts. He owns a record of 46-23-4 with 21 shutouts. He has allowed 86 goals for a career goals against average of 1.15 and has made 373 saves for a career save percentage of .813.
Pool, a native of Bedfordshire, England, is honored for the second consecutive time as a first team defender.

Pool's ability to control the defense has never been more apparent than it was this season. After battling a hamstring injury for much of the season, Pool was forced to miss six games, playing in just 13 games with 11 starts.

In those games in which Pool started at center back, Slippery Rock allowed just nine goals, including one penalty kick, and never allowed more than one goal in a game.

For his career, Pool also owns three goals and three assists for nine points. He was named to All-America and All-Region honors from both Daktronics and the NSCAA last season and was named to the Daktronics All-America team this fall as well.

Walters has been a staple of The Rock's midfield for the last four seasons and earns his second postseason honor of 2010 and the third of his career. Earlier this fall, he was named to his first All-Conference honor, accompanying his third team All-Region selection from a season ago.
Walters, a native of Hummelstown, Pa., who has been a powerful defensive midfielder over the last three seasons, stepped into a scoring role this season and set career-highs in goals, assists and points. He finished second on the team in scoring with four goals and two assists for 10 points. He also tallied two game-winning goals.

For his career, Walters has five goals and eight assists for 18 points.

Slippery Rock finished the 2010 season with an 11-7-1 record, narrowly missing a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament after finishing the regular season ranked third in the Atlantic Region.
