SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's volleyball team's fifth annual "Dig for the Cure" fund-raiser Oct. 15 generated $2,241 for the Pittsburgh affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, SRU Assistant Volleyball Coach
Erin Street reported.
The proceeds from this year's event raised the total amount raised by Rock spikers by Dig for the Cure events to $18,727.43.
The 2010 event, held in conjunction with SRU's home match vs. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Gannon University, was dedicated to everyone in the SRU Family who has been affected by breast cancer in some way.
"We truly appreciate all the support we have received this year and over the last five seasons," Street said. "This proves once again SRU is truly a caring community."
