FINDLAY, Ohio – Former Slippery Rock University assistant coach Rob Keys was named Thursday as Head Football Coach at the University of Findlay.

Keys served as The Rock's defensive backs coach, special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator from 2006-09. This past season, he was defensive backs coach at the University of New Hampshire and helped lead the Wildcats to a No. 10 national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

Prior to joining The Rock staff, Keys served five seasons (2000-04) as co-defensive coordinator and special teams coach at Findlay and one season (2005) as safeties coach and special teams coordinator at Indiana State University.

Keys also served as defensive coordinator and interim head coach at Glenville State University (1999) for one year and a graduate assistant coach at West Virginia University from 1996-99.

As a player at WVU, Keys earned the special teams MVP award in 1995 (the same season in which he served as a team captain), was selected as the top walk-on player in 1994 and was named to the Mountaineer Club (the highest honor a WVU player can achieve) in 1994 and 1995.

He was a member of Mountaineer teams that won the 1993 Big East Conference championship and played in the 1994 USF&G Sugar Bowl and 1994 Carquest Bowl games.

Keys earned both his bachelor and master of science degrees in physical education at WVU and also has a post-graduate degree from the Marine Military Academy (Harlingen, Texas).

Keys and his wife, Jenifer, are the parents of three daughters, Katie, Casey and Kaylee.
