Freshman Amanda Searle Places Sixth In Shot Put

COMPLETE RESULTS

Kutztown, Pa. (Sat. Jan. 15, 2010) - After about a month break the Crusader track and field team was back in action this weekend at the Kutztown Invitational.  Competing against a very tough field with multiple NCAA Division II and III All-Americans, the Crusaders were able to earn some good marks. Leading the way for the Crusaders were freshman Amanda Searle (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional), senior Alexandra Stengel (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) and freshman Jazmyn Vega (Reading, Pa./Holy Name).

Searle placed sixth overall in the Shot Put, finishing with a throw of 10.16m. Vega narrowly missed making the final in the same event but was able to improve on her personal best by over a foot and earn a MAC Championships qualifiying berth with her throw of 9.93m.  Stengel also just missed the finals in the weight throw, but matched her personal best and finished ninth with a throw of 8.85m, good enough to qualify for the MAC Championships.

Other notable performances were Erin Stone (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Spring) and her eighth place finish in the 400m dash.  Stephanie Coleman finished ninth in the 55m Hurdles and set a new personal best in the 200m dash, while and Jessica Ciesla (Branchville, NJ) set a new personal best in the 200m.

On the men's side, freshman Patrick Evans (Gap, Pa.) set a new personal best in the 55m Dash, and sophomore Colin Donovan (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) established a new best in the 3000m.  Dillon Emery (Locustdale, Pa./North Schuylkill) and Will Gerber (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) looked to continue on from where they left after the first meet, getting close to new personal records in the Shot Put as well as establishing new bests in the Weight Throw.

The Crusader's Men and Women Track and Field Teams will be back in action next Friday, January 21st at Ursinus, with field events beginning at 3pm.
