Meet Results
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Albright track and field turned in another Friday of solid performances this time at the Muhlenberg College Invitational. Leading the red and white once again was freshman sprinter
Danisha Higgs who rebroke her 55 meter dash record, this time cutting off an additional four-hundredths of a second late Friday evening.
Her new record time of 7.45 seconds earned her first place honors in the 55. In the men's 55 meter hurdles,
Oshane Rennie ran away with a first place finish as he recorded a final time of 8.36 seconds, which was almost .20 seconds ahead of the closest competitor.
Also having a solid evening at Muhlenberg was
Mackenzie Miller who took second in the 55 meter hurdles with her time of 9.45 seconds and the high jump with her leap of 4-6.00 feet. Not to be outdone in the high jump event,
Justin Gewirtz jumped his way to another first place finish in the event with his leap of 6-4.00 feet.
Clark Runciman earned a second place finish in the pole vault with an impressive height of 12-11.50 feet. Runciman also earned a fifth place finish in the high jump with a height of 5-6.00 feet.
Senior
Meghan Loos earned a third place finish in the high jump with her jump of 4-4.00 feet. In the long jump Adeola Olaoluwa took seventh with a leap of 12-9.50 feet.
The shot put events saw tremendous throws from the Lions. On the women's side,
Lindsay Boyd placed eighth with her toss of 29-7.25 feet. The men's team was led by
Dane Canonico's throw of 44-5.50 feet.
Behind him was Steffen Gonzalez who placed fifth with a throw of 41-4.50 feet. In sixth place was Bruce Smith-Chant who recorded a distance of 41-1.50 feet in his first ever collegiate meet. Michael Schwartz closed out the Albright throwers as he finished in 13th place with a final throw of 33-6.75 feet.
Back to the track events,
Krystal Swasey and Olaoluwa finished in 12th and 13th place respectively in the 55 meter dash with their times of 8.24 and 8.28 seconds. Finishing in 21st place in the 55 was
Candace Messner with her final time of 8.84 seconds.
The men's 55 meter dash was fueled by
Sean Potter's fifth place time of 6.85 seconds.
Anthony Glass and Rennie also finished in the top-10 in the 55. Both runners recorded a time of 6.99 seconds to finished tied for eighth place.
Thomas Messina took 15th place with his time of 7.18 seconds, while Runciman earned 19th (7.50) place and
Tyreek Spaide 22nd (7.90).
As the lone competitor in the women's 800 meter run Swasey finished in 11th place with a final time of 2:47.72. The 400 meter dash saw Higgs earn her second top time of the night. She finished the event almost six seconds of her closest competitor with a time of 1:02.80. Olaoluwa finished in seventh place in the 400 with a time of 1:15.30.
The men's 400 meter dash saw Glass take third with a time of 54.45, while Gewirtz placed fifth overall with a time of 55.27. In 13th place was Potter with a time of 54.42. Messina and Spaide finished in 15th (58.47) and 17th (1:07.43) place respectively to end the event.
Track and Field returns to action next Saturday when they take part in the Ursinus College Frank Colden Invitational. Start time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
