Complete Results

OBERLIN, Ohio –
Allegheny men's track and field unleashed its distance medley relay for the first time this season as the Gators measured their skill against the conference slate at the NCAC Indoor Relays. Allegheny, which has expressed its intentions to challenge for the national record in the mixed relay, enjoyed a strong opening performance while the team closed fifth overall on the team board.
Ignited by Jeramie Parker who ran the 1200-meter leg, the team of Parker, Taylor Throckmorton, Andrew Mahone, and Tony Dipre split 10:08.66. In cruising to a 13-second victory in the race, the Gators delivered their first NCAA provisional qualifying mark of the season.
“We just wanted our guys to get a feel for the DMR,” said head coach Brent Wilkerson, “I was happy with our result today and we're looking forward to improving our NCAA seed at the BU Valentine Invite.”
The Gators finished third overall in the 4x400m as the unit of Mike Vlah, Mahone, freshman Marc Funderlich, and Throckmorton manufactured a time of 3:30.23. Allegheny also closed fourth in the 4x800m, with Dipre, Greg Eyer, John Conant, and Lee Swaydis comprising the Blue and Gold's contingent.
Although Allegheny deployed only part of its outstanding distance arsenal, the Gators earned two top-five finishes in the 5000m. Senior Ryan Sullivan closed fourth overall in a time of 15:29.17 while junior Pat McLaughlin crossed the line in 15:37.05.
“The team scores didn't reflect our effort as many guys competed in two or three events,” added Wilkerson. “While we didn't have great results across the board, today provided another building block for our team as we prepare for Mount Union next week.”
