Maron Brown received the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division "Athlete of the Week" honor for the second straight week and fourth time this season Monday.
Brown earned this week's honor by averaging 23.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in The Rock's wins over Gannon and Clarion last week. He also shot 57.5% (19 of 32) from the field, 1 for 1 from 3-point range and 75% (8 of 12) from the foul line, had four steals and one blocked shots in the two games.
A native of Salisbury, Md., and graduate of Wicomico High School and Cecil College, Brown shared this week's PSAC-West honor with Luis Leao of Mercyhurst.
Prior to winning the award the last two weeks, Brown was recognized as the division's top player for the weeks ending Nov. 28, 2010 and Jan. 9, 2011.
Brown is currently ranked second in the PSAC in rebounding with a 10.0 per game average and is seventh in scoring at 17.5 points per game. He ranks 10th on SRU's career rebounding chart with 757 and is 13th on the all-time scoring chart with 1,130 points.
Behind Brown's leadership, The Rock has compiled a 16-6 record this winter and is 6-2 in PSAC-West, good for sole possession of second place in the division standings.
The Rock opens a two-game homestand at 8 p.m. Wednesday vs. Lock Haven (1-17, 0-7 PSAC-W), then hosts archrival Indiana (14-5, 5-2) in a 3 p.m. game Saturday.
