SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball program will honor record-setting point guard Kyle Camper as part of its 3 p.m. Saturday home game against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division archrival Indiana (Pa.).

Camper, who led the nation (NCAA Division II) in assists and set a PSAC record with 305 in 29 games (10.5 per game) during the 2008-09 season, will be featured at a 1 p.m. reception in Morrow Field House and will then have his jersey retired during a ceremony at halftime of the men's game.

The Rock women host Indiana in a 1 p.m. game to open the day's schedule.

Camper will be the sixth former Rock men's basketball student athlete to have his jersey retired in the last two seasons. Earlier this winter, Joe Lewandowski and Mark Metzka were honored as part of the Jan. 26 home game vs. California. Myron Brown, Troy Mild and Bill Rausch were all honored last winter.

Camper engineered an awesome turnaround in Rock basketball fortunes in his only season at SRU after transferring from Division I Iona College. Behind his leadership, the Green and White tripled their win total from the previous season and finished with a 21-8 record, a second-place finish in PSAC-West regular-season competition and a berth in the PSAC semifinals for the first time since 2000.

His efforts earned him second-team Daktronics, Inc., all-region and second-team All-PSAC-West honors.

Camper is now playing professional basketball in Germany.
