LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University senior thrower
Chris Warning was honored Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Division II Team Challenge last weekend.
Warning, a senior from Monroeville, Pa., has broken the Slippery Rock school record in the weight throw in every meet this season.
Saturday's Division II Team Challenge at the University of Findlay was no different, as Warning topped his own school record with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 18.67 meters.
That mark is the best in the PSAC so far this season and moves Warning up to 13th on the national leaderboard.
Warning is the third Slippery Rock male indoor track and field athlete to be honored with a PSAC weekly award this season, joining
Cameron Daugherty and
Jason Jamieson, who swept the year's first weekly accolades.
The Rock will split between two meets this weekend with some athletes competing at Baldwin-Wallace Friday night and the remainder of the team competing at Akron Saturday.
