SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University head men's soccer coach Michael Bonelli has announced that the program will host an inaugural Alumni Weekend this spring, coinciding with the annual Men's Soccer Golf Outing.
The first Alumni Weekend for the men's soccer program is scheduled for April 16-17.
“We're pleased to announce that we are planning to turn what was previously a golf outing into an entire alumni event,” said Bonelli. “We're inviting all alums back to take part in the weekend, which will include alumni games and social events on top of the golf.”
The weekend is scheduled to kick off with the Ninth Annual Men's Soccer Golf Outing Saturday, April 16. The outing is a set up to be a four-person scramble and will begin at 11 a.m. at the Spring Valley Golf Club in Mercer, Pa.
Included in gofer's registration fees will be lunch, dinner and beverages throughout the outing.
Following the golf outing, a social event will take place in Slippery Rock Saturday evening.
Sunday's events will begin at 11 a.m. with an “Old-Timers Game”, featuring some of the more-tenured alums. The Alumni Game, featuring the current SRU team against recent alums, will follow that contest.
Bonelli also announced that the Best Western hotel in Grove City will offer a special rate of just $65 per night to all members of the alumni group. To receive the rate, simply call the hotel at 724.748.5836 and confirm that you are a part of the SRU Men's Soccer Alumni Weekend. A free shuttle service is planned for Saturday's social event.
