Rock netters fall to Carnegie Mellon, 8-1

Elisabeth Yetiskul's three-set win in the No. 3 singles match accounted for the only Rock point; the team loss was SRU's first in five matches in the 2010-11 season

WEXFORD, Pa. –
Sophomore Elisabeth Yetiskul recorded a three-set (6-2, 2-6, 10-7) win in the No. 3 singles match Friday night to account for the only Slippery Rock University point in an 8-1 loss to Carnegie Mellon University at the Oxford Athletic Club.

The team loss came in the first match of The Rock's spring schedule and was also the first blemish on the No. 23-ranked (NCAA Division II) Green and White's 2010-11 record after four victories in the fall portion of the season.

Friday's win was Carnegie Mellon's second in as many spring matches and third in three matches overall this season. CMU is ranked eighth among NCAA Division III teams.
