AKRON, Pa. – Slippery Rock University middle distance standouts
Kevin Jewel and
Jason Jamieson each put forth impressive performances in the 800-meter run at the Akron Invite Saturday.
Jewel won his heat with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:53.10, which is the fastest time in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference this season and is the fourth-fastest time in Division II. He placed second overall in the event.
Jamieson also took home the top honor in his heat, crossing the line in 1:55.22, which is the fourth-best time in the PSAC this season. He placed 16th in the event.
The middle distance duo were the only Rock athletes to compete Saturday, with the remainder of the team competing Friday evening at Baldwin-Wallace. Slippery Rock is back in action next Saturday at the Kent State Tune-Up.
