CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Senior center fielder Matt Howard smacked a grand slam home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday night to propel Slippery Rock University's baseball team to a 9-5 win over Tiffin (Ohio) and a sweep of the Green and White's season-opening games at VA Memorial Stadium.

SRU defeated St. Joseph's College of Indiana by an 8-3 score in The Rock's first game of the day.

The Rock returns to VA Memorial Stadium for a pair of nine-inning single games Sunday, starting with a 10 a.m. date with St. Joseph's and culminating with a 1 p.m. meeting with Tiffin.
