Daugherty earns PSAC weekly honor

Cameron Daugherty was named the PSAC Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Kent State Tune-Up.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University pole vault standout Cameron Daugherty was named Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Kent State Tune-Up last weekend.

Daugherty, who entered the Kent State meet already owning the top pole vault clearance in the PSAC, topped his previous season best with a third-place finish in the event.

He cleared 4.91 meters, just 0.03 meters off his own school record, to place as the second collegiate and third overall finisher in the seeded section of the event.

Daugherty's clearance of 4.91 (16-01.25) meters is 3.5 inches better than any other competitor in the PSAC this season and currently ranks as the sixth-best mark in all of Division II.

This marks the second PSAC Field Athlete of the Week honor for Daugherty, who earned both the first award of the season and now the last.

The Rock men's indoor track and field team will travel to Edinboro this weekend to compete in the PSAC Championships Friday and Saturday.
