NEW ORLEANS – Six Slippery Rock University men's indoor track and field standouts earned all-region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their performances during the 2010-11 season.

This is the first season in which the USTFCCCA has given out all-region awards. A total of 1,039 athletes received 1,482 all-region nods in the inaugural class. The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three have earned the All-Region distinction for the 2011 indoor season.

Representing Slippery Rock on the USTFCCCA All-Region team were Chris Warning, Brady Wert, Cameron Daugherty, Kevin Jewel, Terrece Draper and Ryan Camody.

Warning was honored for his efforts in both the weight throw and the shot put. Warning, who was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Field MVP at last weekend's PSAC Indoor Championships, recorded a throw of 18.67 meters in the weight throw at the NCAA Division II Team Challenge on Feb. 4. The distance was a Slippery Rock record as well as the highest mark in the PSAC this season. His shot put mark of 15.44 meters at the PSAC Indoor Championships was the third longest throw of the season in the conference.

Wert earned a spot on the list after scoring 6,922 points and winning a conference title in the heptathlon at the PSAC Indoor Championships. Wert will be competing in the heptathlon at the indoor National Championships for the second consecutive season March 11-12.

Daugherty, who won the PSAC title in the pole vault, posted the sixth best clearance in Division II at 4.91 meters. The height was also the highest clearance in the PSAC this season. He will be joining Wert at the National Championships next week.

Jewel turned in the fastest 800-meter run time in the PSAC this season when he clocked a time of 1:53.10 at the Akron Invitational on Feb. 11. The time was the 14th-fastest in the nation and nearly earned Jewel a trip to the National Championships.

Draper set a Slippery Rock record and placed second in the triple jump at the PSAC Indoor Championships after jumping 14.64 meters. Like Jewel, Draper narrowly missed a trip to the National Championships. He posted the 14th-best triple jump performance in the nation, but only 13 jumpers were invited to the National Championships.

Ryan Camody was the second pole vaulter from Slippery Rock to receive USTFCCCA All-Region recognition. His top clearance of 4.61 meters was the fifth-best mark in the PSAC this year.

Wert and Daugherty will represent Slippery Rock March 11-12 at the Division II National Championships with the rest of the track team beginning the outdoor season Saturday (March 5) at the Coastal Warm-Up Meet in Myrtle Beach S.C.
