READING, Pa. - After an impressive showing at last week's conference championship meet a select group athletes will travel to New York City to compete in the 2011 Indoor ECAC Championship meet at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center this Friday and Saturday.

Making the haul to the city that never sleeps will be freshman sprinter and MAC Rookie of the Year Danisha Higgs. Record setting high jumper Justin Gewirtz will also be in action this weekend as he looks to continue his climb to the NCAA Indoor Championship meet. The record setting women's 4x200 relay team of Higgs, Meghan Loos, Shannon Loos, and Taylor Kutz will also be on hand as they look to improve on their sensational time from last Saturday.

Higgs will be the first Lion in action, as she will compete in the preliminary round of the 55 meter dash on Friday. With a qualifying time of 7.34 seconds, Higgs should be amongst the top female sprinters at this year's championship. Also in action, will be the 4x200 relay team, who finished in second place at last Saturday's conference championship with a time of 1:58.49.

On Saturday, Gewirtz will look to better his already record setting jump of 6-09.00. Not only did that leap earn Gewirtz a gold medal, but it also broke the MAC championship record as well. Higgs will have a busy Saturday. Not only will she compete in the 55 meter dash if she qualifies, but she is also set to compete in the 200 meter dash as well. At MAC's Higgs recorded a time of 26.41 seconds to earn a gold medal and set a new program mark.

Higgs will kick everything off on Friday with the prelims of the 55 meter dash tentatively scheduled for 4:05 p.m. After her will be the women's 4x200 which is set to begin at 6:50 p.m.

The finals of the women's 55 meter dash is scheduled for an 11:20 a.m. start on Saturday. That will be followed up by the men's high jump which is set to begin at 1 p.m. The women's 200 meter dash will be the final event that Albright will compete in on Saturday, and it is scheduled for a 1:50 p.m. start.
