Maron Brown
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University men's basketball standouts Maron Brown and Jabril Bailey were named to All-Conference honors in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division, as announced Wednesday in a release by the league office.

The All-PSAC-West team and the Athlete and Coach of the Year awards are selected through voting by the head coaches in the division.

Both Rock players matched their honors from last season, with Brown repeating as a first team selection and Bailey earning second team honors.

Brown, a senior from Salisbury, Md., is currently leading the team in scoring, rebounding and steals (32). His per game averages of 18.0 points and 10.3 rebounds rank fifth and second in the PSAC this season.

The 6-foot-5 forward has recorded a school record 19 double-doubles and is the only player in the 16-team PSAC to average more than 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.

He scored 13 or more points in 25 games this season and topped the 20-point mark 11 times. He also recorded two games over 30 points, including a 32 point, 11 rebound effort against Cheyney in the PSAC semifinals. Brown led all players in scoring at the PSAC Final Four this year, totaling 57 points and shooting 69.2 percent from the field over two games.

Jabril Bailey
Brown has amassed staggering numbers over his career at Slippery Rock, which has lasted just three seasons. He currently ranks seventh on the school's all-time scoring ledger with 1,304 points. More impressively, he ranks third on the rebounding list with 856 career boards. He is just the second player in SRU history to score more than 1,300 points and grab more than 800 rebounds, joining Ed McFarlane (1958-62).

Bailey, a senior from New Castle, Del., ranks second on the team and 12th in the PSAC in scoring this season at 15.2 points per game. He also grabs 5.9 rebounds per game and ranks second on the team in steals (30) and assists per game (2.5).

He scored 13 or more points in 23 games this season and topped the 20-point plateau eight times, most recently with a 22 point effort in The Rock's PSAC semifinal win over Cheyney.

Like Brown, Bailey has compiled impressive career numbers in a limited stay with the Green and White. Over his two seasons, he has started in 57 of 58 games and has scored 866 points and pulled down 382 rebounds.

This season, Brown and Bailey led Slippery Rock to its first PSAC championship game since 2000, where Indiana (Pa.) came away with an 82-75 win after making a conference record 62 trips to the free throw line. SRU outscored the Crimson Hawks 56-33 from the field and held a 35-30 rebounding advantage, but made just 29 trips to the free throw line.

Slippery Rock was awarded the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic Region to earn its first berth in the NCAA Division II tournament since 1991. The Rock will play at No. 1 overall seed West Liberty Saturday at 6 p.m.
