Ianno named PSAC-West Pitcher of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University junior pitcher Shaylee Ianno was named Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Ianno earned the honor after compiling three wins and one save for Slippery Rock (6-2) last week at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. Ianno, who is 4-0 overall this season, gave up just three earned runs in 22 innings of work for The Rock. For the week, the McMurray, Pa. native tallied a 0.95 ERA, 18 strikeouts and held opponents to a .157 batting average.

She began the week by pitching three perfect innings, which included four strikeouts, in relief to earn a save in The Rock's victory over Wilmington. She followed that performance up by scattering five hits and striking out seven batters over six innings while surrendering just one run in Slippery Rock's win against Lees-McRae.

Ianno closed out the week by recording wins vs. Lake Erie and St. Cloud State. Against Lake Erie, Ianno came on in relief to pitch six strong innings to lead Slippery Rock to a 6-5 win in 10 innings. In her complete-game victory over St. Cloud State, Ianno gave up just four hits and one run to go with four strikeouts in SRU's 4-1 triumph.

The Slippery Rock softball team will be on the road for double-headers 2 p.m. Thursday at Virginia State and 2 p.m. Friday at Virginia Union.
