LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University freshman right-hander
Ryan Oglesby was named Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division “Pitcher of the Week” for games the week ending March 13, 2011.
Oglesby, a native of Wexford and graduate of North Allegheny High School, recorded two wins in a relief role last week over West Chester University, which at the time was the No. 1-ranked team in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Division II Atlantic Regional poll.
Oglesby struck out six, walked only one and allowed four hits in eight scoreless innings of work last week to lower his season ERA to 0.75.
He had four strikeouts and allowed two hits in the final five frames of SRU's 3-2, 10-inning win March 7 over West Chester. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder followed that up with two K's and two hits in the final three innings in The Rock's 1-0, 10-inning win March 11. Both wins came as part of SRU's annual spring-break trip to Florida.
The Rock, who currently own a 7-7 record, are scheduled to return to the field Friday, when they will host defending PSAC champion California (Pa.) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Jack Critchfield Park.
That twinbill will be SRU's first home date of the season and the first two in a series of eight home games the Green and White are scheduled to play in their next 10 contests.
