RUSSELTON, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team will square off against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL Pro league tonight in an exhibition match at Deer Lakes High School in Russelton, Pa. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Admission to the game is free, but donations will be accepted with all proceeds benefitting the Wounded Warrior program, which provides services to severely injured service veterans.
Adding to the hype of the exhibition matchup will be two former Slippery Rock All-Americans suiting up for the Riverhounds.
Jeremy Deighton joined the Riverhounds last season and quickly made his mark, earning Rookie of the Year honors in the league. Deighton is off to a hot start this exhibition season already, netting the game-winner in a 1-0 win over the University of Pittsburgh last week.
Joining the Riverhounds for the exhibition season this spring is goalkeeper
Greg Blum, who just topped off his collegiate career this past fall by earning his second consecutive first team All-PSAC and All-Region honors.
Blum is working out with the team during the exhibition season in hopes of landing a contract for the 2011 season.
The Riverhounds play in the newly formed USL Pro league, which ranks as the second-highest level of professional soccer in the United States, behind only Major League Soccer. For more information on the Riverhounds, visit www.Riverhounds.com
